Not Too Coy to Decoy
I don’t like strange guys knowing where I live. And so, if I’m being watched 👀 by some creepy guy as I make my way back home, I simply change my direction or take an alternative route. I always know where to go, and I keep my gas tank on or near full. I drive 🚗 other roads (and if I’m on foot) I enter side doors or come through back ways. I familiarize myself with every entry and exit, and I always know my way around a building.
And so, on this day, I came up the stairs to our floor and had passed the elevators when this man turned to look at me. As soon as his eyes fixed on me, they stuck like glue! At that moment, I decided not to go straight to my door. 🚪 So I passed it, and I heard my cat 🐈 meow as I walked by. I made it all the way to the end of our long hallway and I still hadn’t heard the ding of the elevator where he was standing.
I turned around – and get this – HE WAS STILL WATCHING ME!! 👁 👁 I stood at the far end by the exit door and just stared at him. I was shocked at how foolish of a man he could be, and my annoyance was turning into anger. But just then, he seemed embarrassed that I noticed; he nervously smiled and waved, 👋 then jumped real fast onto that elevator.
Perhaps taking such measures can be seen as skittish or skittery, but I see it as nothing less than safe and smart!
